What does AI-native marketing mean?
AI-native marketing describes marketing designed around AI, rather than an established process with AI added to selected tasks. It can apply to an entire function, a system or a campaign workflow.
The term has no settled meaning across suppliers. ActiveCampaign emphasises AI within marketing operations and automation. Superside applies the label to creative agencies and their operating models. These are supplier definitions, rather than a common industry standard.
An existing business can redesign part of its marketing around AI without starting the whole company again. The distinction concerns how the work is organised, not the age of the business or the number of AI tools it owns.
What does AI-native marketing mean for team and organisation design?
AI-native organisation design considers the roles, decisions, data and systems needed when AI performs a substantial part of marketing work. It reaches beyond campaign production into planning, research, measurement and coordination.
The design questions include which work AI can perform, who owns the resulting decisions, how information moves between systems and where human review is required. Responsibilities may change even when the organisation chart stays the same.
There is no single AI-native team structure. The appropriate division of work depends on the business, its capabilities, the reliability of its data and the consequences of an error. A smaller headcount is not part of the definition. AI can also expand what an existing team is able to do.
How does AI-native redesign differ from adding AI to existing workflows?
Adding AI usually changes individual tasks within an existing process. Redesign changes the process itself, including its sequence, handovers, approvals or connections to other systems. Both approaches can create value; their scope is different.
McKinsey’s August 2026 survey found that nearly three-quarters of AI high performers reported fundamental workflow redesign, compared with one-quarter of other respondents. High performers represented about 6% of respondents and reported significant AI value with at least 5% EBIT impact.
This is an association from a cross-industry survey, not proof that redesign caused the results. Its May to June 2026 fieldwork describes an earlier stage of AI adoption; tools and capabilities have since changed. It supports examining process redesign but does not establish that every business needs a complete architectural rebuild.
What is AI-native campaign development?
AI-native campaign development builds AI into how a campaign is researched, developed and reviewed, with defined human responsibility for the brief and final decisions.
Our campaign development model has four stages: human brief, agentic work, agentic review and human finalisation. The human brief sets the business problem, objectives, evidence and constraints. During agentic work, AI agents contribute research, analysis and campaign development. Agentic review examines the work, including its assumptions and weaknesses. Human finalisation determines what is accepted, changed or rejected.
Agentic review is a further check, not a guarantee of accuracy or a substitute for appropriate human, legal or production approval. This is our campaign method, described within our Approach; it is one application of AI-native marketing rather than a definition of the whole field.
